Team Photographer

Task Description

Take photographs at both home and away swim meets, Alumni meet, Team parties and other Team related functions. Edit and forward via email, meet photos to the webmaster to be placed on the SMF Athletic and/or Team websites. You also need to be present at Team picture day to take headshots for the Team Parents Guide and websites. Create a CD slideshow or DVD presentation to be shown at the season end banquet. Provide a copy of the CD / DVD presentation to each swimmer and coach.

Equipment Needed

1. A digital SLR camera, ( 8 megapixels or better works the best ). Most cameras come with a 50mm lens, in order to get good close ups or for shooting across the pool, a 200mm or 300mm lens is recommended. Cameras that have auto zoom will work, however the further out you zoom, the pixilation could become depleted.

2. A speed flash, due to the fast action, the speed flash works better than the camera’s built in flash.

3. The camera must be equipped with at least a 1 gig memory flash. You will take anywhere from 80 to 150 pictures per meet.

4. A computer with some type of photo editing program, ( Photoshop, Roxie etc. ), a program to make the CD / DVD presentation and the ability to burn / copy CD / DVDs. Computer must have sufficient memory to store pictures, photos take up a lot of memory.

Cost

If you have the equipment, the cost is minimal. You will need to supply the CD / DVDs, jewel cases and disc labels. That cost will run between $40 - $60 dollars. The biggest investment will be your time.

Perks

You get to be on deck for photo taking at all meets with the exception of the District, Sectional and State meets.

The satisfaction and pride you feel when the swimmers and parents see the labors of your work when they watch the CD/DVD presentation at the end of the year.
